2012 Rêve team climbs Coleman Valley Road read our blog from france

In what we believe will be a first for women’s cycling, a team of six amateur women will take on the ultimate road cycling challenge of a complete grand tour. Starting in Liège one day ahead of the pro peloton our riders will complete the entire parcours of the 2012 Tour de France arriving in Paris on the 21st of July. In the process they’ll prove to themselves, other female cyclists, and women thinking about taking up the sport, that any bicycle dream is possible.

In true Rêve fashion they’ll stay in the same spartan hotels and endure the unrelenting grind of daily transfers that define the annual three-week test of heart, mind and legs. This adventure would not have been possible without the committed support of our sponsors listed in the side bar. Each of these companies recognizes the increasing importance of the women’s market and they’ve responded by outfitting the team with the best collection of women’s-specific products available. Through team camps in Portland (April) and Santa Rosa (May) the women and men behind these brands have been with us every step of the way, leaving no detail or advantage to chance. We have the best bikes, the best components, clothing, hydration, nutrition, recovery products, skin care and luggage. All that’s left now is to ride and document the journey.

Finally the Rêve project hopes to make a difference in one more important way by riding on behalf of Bikes Belong. Bikes Belong is a non-profit cycling advocacy organization dedicated to putting more people on bikes more often. Our goal is to raise $60K for the foundation. If you want to support the team please make a small donation to Bikes Belong.

Peloton Magazine - fuel for the ride

Strava AmbassadorInterested in the amount of training the team is doing for Rêve, check out the team page on Strava. Each team member has been designated a Strava Ambassador, signified by the laurel crest. The team uploads ride data into their premium accounts almost everyday so that you can review the power data coming from their Quarq RED power meters.

And tune in to pelotonmagazine.com where regular contributor and Rêve team member Heidi Swift will share the story with daily updates from the road. Swift has a whole section devoted to Rêve at Peloton. When the Tour is over Heidi will pen a major feature for the September issue of the magazine illustrated with VeloDramatic photography.
